An Energy Statement, or Energy Strategy Report, demonstrates how your project will adhere to local energy efficiency targets. As these are set at the local level, instead of nationally, you will have to look up your local Planning Authority’s (LPA) Carbon Emission and Renewable Energy Targets.
Most LPAs request a 10-19% reduction in carbon emissions and energy use on top of those required by Building Regulations (separate rules apply for Scotland).
An Energy Statement is similar to a SAP or SBEM calculation (needed to produce an Energy Performance Certificate) with the difference that it includes a detailed calculation report to show how a building will meet the relevant LPA’s Carbon Emission and Renewable Energy Targets. It includes:
