Lower energy bills

Rising energy bills and a shift towards remote working means that for many commercial tenants, it is no longer practical to renew their leases. Providing high performing buildings with low energy bills has a wide appeal to tenants who are looking for value for money and keeping cost margins low.

Identify cost-effective energy measures

Our team of energy consultants will use data from software used to model your properties energy consumption used in the production of Non Domestic Energy Performance Certificates to model improvements and suggest cost-effective energy measures. Such energy efficiency improvements could include improved insulation, LED lighting and lighting controls, Solar PV, depending on your objectives. This includes:

  • Pathways to net zero
  • Reducing carbon emissions
  • Lowering energy bills
  • Identifying appropriate energy management schemes

Prepare for MEES legislation

Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) for commercial properties mean that it is currently unlawful for landlords to grant a new tenancy of commercial property with an EPC rating of ‘F’ or ‘G’ in England and Wales.

  • By 1 April 2027 all commercial rented buildings must have improved the building to an EPC C (or better) or register a valid exemption.
  • By 1 April 2030 all commercial rented buildings must have improved the building to an EPC B (or better) or register a valid exemption.

Make sure you’re prepared for the deadline and avoid a gap in-between tenancies by modelling your properties. Contact the team to find out more.
